Upgrading vSphere Update Manager:
Fortunately for me and my sanity, this upgrade process was drastically better than my vCenter Upgrad. It was a pretty simple process to Launch from the overall vSphere 5 installer. I know sometimes I delay installing/upgrading things if I think they might be a hassle. Hopefully these screens will help illuminate how easy this process is….
This is one of the only screens I thought one might have to stop and take a look.
“Delete the old host upgrade files from the repository”- I could see unchecking this box if I still had vSphere 4 hosts I was going to keep around, or if I was going to be creating new vSphere 4 hosts
“Download updates from the default sources immediately after installation.” – The default obviously makes a lot of sense here, unless of course their note is applicable to you.
Enter the information for your vCenter Server
If this is Not a fresh install, it automatically detects the existing database connection.
Upgrade your Existing database, or create a new one. Pretty straightforward
Yay for Defaults!
That’s all she wrote, most of it is pretty self-explanatory. Let me know if this helps or you have any questions.
